‘Today’ Halloween Costumes Take Us Back to the Royal Wedding
‘Today’ Halloween Costumes Take Us Back to the Royal Wedding
‘Today’ (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) took the Royal Wedding, the biggest crossover news story of the year, and turned it into one very spectacular group Halloween costume. For a few minutes, it looked like the show had started to play the wrong video. Call it one sweet trick, followed by a very royal treat as Matt Lauer appeared as Prince William, decked out in full British military dress. Ann Curry slipped into a version of Kate Middleton’s stunning gown, Al Roker donned his best wig and dressed as Prince Harry, Natalie Morales channeled her best Pippa, and Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb put on their party hats and dressed as Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
To round out the cast, Savannah Guthrie was tapped to play Prince Charles and former ‘Today’ co-host Meredith Vieira made a surprise return visit to the show as Queen Elizabeth, complete with a gaggle of corgis. To add more credibility to the affair, ‘Today’ used the original Royal Wedding commentary done by Lauer and Vieira at the actual wedding. We knew you’d been busy creating Halloween costumes and carving pumpkins C now here are the results.
From horrifying ghoul and ghosts on the London tube and incredible feats of make-up, to topical pumpkin creations (see Rupert Murdoch and Angry Birds), the sincere crafters among you have been working hard.Play the slideshow to see the best pictures from our imaginative readers of their terrifying costumes and collections of fearsome beaming gourds. If you want to get involved by sending in your pictures of Halloween costumes and pumpkins you can upload you pictures to our Halloween Flickr group here, or leave a comment.
Do I let my kids watch the show? Of course not. Do I let them dress like the characters? Of course I do. I will admit that my five year old was my first choice for Walter White, but he told me that if he wore a bald cap and a goatee, he thought people would put rocks in his candy bag (I think he saw that on Charlie Brown). So I turned to my 7 year old. I knew it would be easy to get the 3 year old to dress like Jesse Pinkman, but getting Alec to buy into the Walter White outfit was going to be tough. After accepting a bribe of $2 and another pack of football cards, he was in. Here you have it, Jesse Pinkman and Walter White.
